"Significant Effect to Reduce Restenosis by Cypher Drug Eluting Stents (DES) Compared to BxVelocity Stents After Rotablator for Severely Calcified Coronary Lesions."
|
Patient and Lesion profile
257 Hemodialysis patients
- Male = 136
- Female = 101
- 67±9 y.o.
-
326 calcified lesions
- LMT = 41
- LAD = 127
- RCA = 109
- LCX = 49
-
- Type
- A = 0
- B1/B2 = 189
- C = 137
Method
Rota + Cypher Group (C)
- N = 171
- Target Burr/Artery = 0.63
- IVUS guided deployment of Cypher (m(avg.) = 20atm)
-
Rota + Velocity Group (V)
- N = 155
- Target Burr/Artery = 0.63
- IVUS guided deployment of Velocity (m(avg.) = 19atm)
-
- ※More than 2,000 Velocity stents were deployed at CNGH and the data base of this registry was comparison with Cypher DES data.
|
Conclusions
- Differences between Cypher DES and Velocity stent were clearly demonstrated when treating calcified coronary lesions, even for Type B and C lesions.
- Preceding debulking severely calcified lesions by Rotablator to prevent the damage of polymer coating of Cypher would be the optimal deployment strategy to produce favorable clinical outcome.
